New York City Ballet’s Fall 2026 season runs September 22 through October 18 at the David H. Koch Theater, opening with Balanchine’s iconic Jewels and followed by a rotating lineup of mixed repertory programs. Single tickets are already on sale.
In other ballet news, this looks mesmerizing: Ballet of Lights: Cinderella. It’s the classic fairy tale reimagined with dancers in glow-in-the-dark costumes. There’s a performance September 27 at Kaye Playhouse.
The Brooklyn Book Festival returns September 20–28, NYC’s largest free literary festival. Don’t miss Children’s Day on Saturday, September 26 at Brooklyn Borough Hall and Plaza, a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, and art projects with favorite children’s and middle-grade authors and illustrators.
92NY just released their Theater for Young Audiences calendar for the season, and first up is Red Riding Hood. A musical spin on the classic tale, running Saturdays and Sundays from September 26 through October 25. A sweet, easy way to introduce little ones to the magic of the stage.
It's a ways away, but tickets for The Sound of Music just went on sale, and I cannot wait for this one. It's the first Broadway revival of the beloved musical in nearly 30 years, at the Lincoln Center. Performances begin March 23, 2027. A long wait, but very much worth marking the calendar.
The Jellycat Diner at FAO Schwarz looks adorable and just relaunched with a whole new menu and a refreshed space. Reservations are required (booked about four weeks out), and experiences start at $75.
Balloon Museum: DAYDREAM at the Tin Building: It opened this summer at Seaport. The viral inflatable-art phenomenon finally lands a permanent NYC home. While I haven’t been (someone let me know how it is?!), it looks wildly fun and genuinely interactive.
Have you been to Shaver Hall yet? It’s in the former Lord & Taylor building on Fifth Avenue. It's all under one roof: Michelin-starred omakase, a London cheese conveyor belt, Tompkins Square Bagels, and a Tallow steakhouse. Live music and daily happy hour make it an evening plan, not just lunch.
New to me, did you know about the Bronx Zoo's Wild Encounters? What a special way to celebrate a birthday or treat an animal-loving kid. It's an up-close meet-and-greet with cheetahs, penguins, sloths, and more, led by real keepers. Go now before it gets too cold: several encounters run outdoors, and the Giraffe Connection wraps up in October. Must book in advance, availability is limited.
We're finally (slowlyyyy) moving back into our kitchen after a six-month renovation (more on that to come!). I did a bit of a haul on McGee & Co., upgrading some basics that are practical but also add a nice touch. Here's what I picked up and am loving: a kitchen planter, olive oil cruet, paper towel holder, ceramic crock, and a vase.
At the very top of my wishlist this Fall: this fringe triangle scarf. Of course, it’s sold out, but I’ll be patiently waiting…
I just got this tote from Alex Mill and can confirm it is the perfect weekday tote. It’s large but light and fits a laptop perfectly. I opted out of the monogram (a shock to myself, too) but am going to go Etsy iron-on patch route. Here are some that I’m eyeing: excellent letters or Liberty letters, gorgeous botanicals, and more fun ones here.
Did you know Sézane makes kids' clothes? The last two friends' kids' outfits I complimented turned out to be from there, so naturally, I went down an online shopping deep-dive. Their collection is perfect for fall: beautiful blouses, knits, but the real winner is this floral coat.
