Maria Dueñas Jacobs — mom of three, co-founder of Super Smalls, and co-author (with her sister Bianca) of The Super Book of Gems — shares her favorite ways to spend time Out East with her family. P.S. I’m so excited that The Super Book of Gems launches this fall — it’s available for pre-order here
Sen, Sag Harbor: “Our go-to sushi spot. It’s relaxed enough for the kids but always delicious — we all leave happy.”
Highway, East Hampton: “Perfect for a cozy family dinner. It’s one of those places where there’s something for everyone.”
Brisas, East Hampton: “My happy place to sneak in a padel match — exercise mixed with fun, and always with great energy.”
Georgica Beach, East Hampton: “A quick swim or walk here is our family reset button. The kids love to splash, and I love how peaceful it feels.”
At home: “When we’re not out, we’re usually in the pool — my kids live in their Super Smalls goggles. And when it’s downtime, we’re usually beading together with our Make It Splash Mini Bead Kit. Simple joys!”
Thank you for sharing your recommendations, Maria!
This past week, we took a family day trip to Greenport and had an absolute blast. We rode the ferry through Shelter Island to the North Fork—a highlight for the kids—then visited the Greenport Express Miniature Railroad, the carousel, and topped it off with an ice cream at Amazing Flavors. My highlight: Shopping at Beall & Bell—one of the best antique stores—where I found a large, gorgeous green urn. For lunch, try Anker or Eddie’s at Silver Sands.
This weekend, I’m taking the kids berry picking at Seven Ponds Orchard. I’m still trying to master a galette and use this recipe every time. Without a doubt, there will be berry stains, and I cannot recommend this stain remover enough—it works like magic!
We’re soaking up the last bits of summer with daily bike rides. We love this bike seat for our toddler and this one for our bigger kids. Debating getting a second set for Central Park bike rides in the fall…
